- disable automatic idle/away reporting - set start presence status to last known status - enable chat archives/logging - log presence status changes in chats - add a mark line in chats to indicate unread messages - enable only some notification popups - associate with firefox (gnome-www-browser alternative) - enable plugins: state notifications, gnome-keyring integration, history, irc helper, irc more, hide join/part, last seen time, notifications, OTR, send button, audio/video config - mute sounds by default - buddy list/conversation window display options (show offline contacts, minimize on startup, ...) - OTR settings (don't log, enable)
